Climb to the Alpspitze (2628m), the symbol of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and that in winter.
The mountain guides and safety equipment from the Garmisch Alpine School make this possible. In winter, this popular via ferrata is much more difficult than an ascent in summer. With the appropriate ability and a good to very good physical condition, the tour becomes a unique experience, where, unlike in summer, you are mostly alone. It doesn't matter whether it's summer or winter, you should definitely visit the impressive summit of the Alpspitze with its gigantic views of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Werdenfelser Land and the summit of the Zugspitze.
We meet early at the Alpspitzbahn ticket office and, after a short equipment check, take the first cable car. Arrived at the mountain station, we traverse under the north face of the Alpspitze for about 15 minutes and get a briefing on the safety equipment there. After that, nothing stands in the way of starting the "Ferrata". It is relatively steep at the beginning, secured to the wire rope and impressively upwards on footholds. The following somewhat flatter part invites you to take a look at the Höllental with the Höllentalferner and the Zugspitze.
We finally reach the edge of the north-west ridge and only have a few, but exciting meters to go to the summit cross of the Alpspitze. From there we have a breathtaking view of the Werdenfelser Land and enjoy our snack in the sun. The descent is again via the ascent path of the ferrata, via which we then reach the mountain station again and drive back into the valley.
For a fee of €30 per day, you can hire crampon-compatible mountain boots from us.
We ask for a separate reservation stating your shoe size to info(at)alpinschule-garmisch.de
