The Innsbruck via ferrata leads from the Hafelekar over the long saddle to the Frau-Hitt-Sattel. Numerous peaks are climbed. In addition to difficulties up to the via ferrata rating D, the via ferrata also has a lot to offer in terms of scenery with magnificent views of the Karwendel or the glaciated mountains of the main Alpine ridge. In addition, the via ferrata walker can also expect magnificent deep views and a suspension bridge.
On this day we meet in the morning at the valley station of the Nordkettenbahn and drive with it to the Nordkette. At the mountain station we put on our safety equipment, consisting of helmet, climbing harness and via ferrata set. In a cozy ten minutes we walk to the entrance of the ferrata. At the beginning, a steep entrance wall awaits us, after which we reach our first summit of the day, the Seegrubenspitz .
From the summit we descend a short distance and it follows the ridge crossing of the chimney tops. As a highlight, we cross a suspension bridge on the ridge. This place is ideal to take some stunning photos. Summit number three is the Kemacher, from which we descend into the long saddle. The saddle invites you to rest and we can gather new strength for the second part of the via ferrata.
The second part is slightly heavier and steeper than the first part. We continue climbing, past towers and over steep wall areas to the western Sattelspitze. We have reached our last summit for today, but the key point is still waiting for us, an overhang that we climb down. After all of this we reach the Frau-Hitt-Sattel. There we have another opportunity to enjoy the wonderful view before we start the descent. Via the hiking trail we descend to the middle station of the Seegrube and by the mountain railway we go back to the parking lot.
