The Mauerläufer via ferrata on the Bernadeinkopf, which is located in the Alpspitz area near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, is a really breathtaking, difficult sport via ferrata for all enthusiastic via ferrata climbers. A mixture of very steep steal ropes, a rope ladder and an extremely photogenic rope bridge at the end of the via ferrata is very demanding for the climber. At the same time, these things make the via ferrata an unforgettable experience in a fantastic mountain atmosphere.
In the morning we met at the valley station of the Osterfelderbahn and take one of the first cable cars at the foot of the Alpspitze. From there we comfortably descend for about 25 minutes on a road, enjoy the large Alpspitze directly above us and immediately see the steep, north face of the Bernadeinkopf. In a few minutes we ascend exactly through this wall up to the already visible summit cross.
But first of all we put our safety Equipment on. It consists of a helmet, climbing harness and via ferrata set. Then the Mauerläufer via ferrata shows that the next 300 meters in altitude will be an exhausting, alpine endeavor. Several very steep, partly slightly overhanging rock passages mixed with impressive traversing passages with a deep view characterize the lower and middle area of ??the via ferrata, which is at the upper end of the scale with a via ferrata rating of D/E. Finally we reach a short rope ladder in front of which we can shake our arms for a few minutes and let our gaze wander over the entire Werdenfelser Land. Before we reach the summit the Mauerläufer via ferrata with its final rope bridge invites us to take a really breathtaking souvenir photo. Then finally we reach the summit cross directly and can be proud of what we have just achieved over a snack.
We descent, via the Nordwandsteig - in much easier terrain - back to the mountain station of the Osterfelderkopf, where we can look forward to a cold beer!
