The "Eisenzeit" - in the footsteps of the railway builders from 1930!
The new "old route" through the northern flank of the Zugspitze - the northern flank of the Zugspitze appears impressive and powerful above the Eibsee. Most climb the north face of the Zugspitze with the cable car and enjoy the view and distant view. We climb through the northern flank of the Zugspitze, are accompanied by the constantly passing cable car and look forward to every meter of altitude. On paths over 100 years old we go back to the time of the railway builders around 1930. Old iron pins with wooden wedges, old steel ropes, rusted ladders and remains of power poles testify to the heavy and dangerous work of the railway builders.
We, on the other hand, climb with modern equipment, in easy climbing up to the tunnel windows of the Zugspitz rack railway in the middle of the north face - very impressive! After exploring the tunnels and tunnel windows, we enjoy the breathtaking view of the Eibsee. Then follow some exposed climbing points up to the lower fourth difficulty level. The rest move on to the abseiling point in difficulty levels of two and three. From here we climb the last few meters to the summit via the via ferrata. Done - after the summit beer at the "Münchner Haus", we take the cable car back to the Eibsee. The "Eisenzeit" is therefore an impressive climbing adventure with time travel!
